We got very short notice about a festival that is coming up, the opening is on the 19th and then again from the 24th to the 30th. Gee there is so much to be done and added to this my father wrote a book and we had the launch last night and I am pleased to say that it was a great success. We have many orders to get out as soon as the book gets here because as usual Murphy was busy and the books will arrive a day late.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Getting back to the festival, I am making polymer clay charms at the moment but have to finish them this weekend in order to make some jewellery for the market too. We are going to sell loose beads, charms and buttons and also made up jewellery, keyrings, bag charms, cellphone charms, earrings etc.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Anyhow I had better get back to work........</span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-58903243392119697192009-08-30T20:08:00.002+02:002009-08-30T20:16:30.920+02:00Power tools?<span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">I was a bit unsure but I had heard all these wonderful stories about the shine that the buffer would give the polymer clay beads. I went out to buy one on Wednesday and nearly fainted when the salesman told me how much it was - eeep - could I really afford to spend that amount on this thing? What if I was dissapointed? What if I kick myself in the b**t because I have wasted money </span></span><span style="font-family: verdana; font-weight: bold; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">again</span><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">? <br />Well I got the contraption home and only unpacked it on Thursday. It smelt like oil and tools - not the kind of aroma that I enjoy. I got a bead out and buffed it and the shine was 1000 times better than I ever expected - it is amazing. Now I am kicking myself in the b**t because I did not buy it a long time ago. LOL<br /></span></span></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-90219129189278223872009-08-27T18:22:00.002+02:002009-08-30T20:17:37.193+02:00Who wants them?<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6_QFd2-xlrhvUVW3xkJXvhc7jD8shRoomQBnmVll7XDslQ1OSHBgJTr_fJzPGqc5nXlyV0AsDp-W7zhhCVfSe6Sji53eku0MNUTaiYgp5Zme2qtTmO3A9jBMfgITCrVcfbKmCPCd9Mqyb/s1600-h/earrings15.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 116px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6_QFd2-xlrhvUVW3xkJXvhc7jD8shRoomQBnmVll7XDslQ1OSHBgJTr_fJzPGqc5nXlyV0AsDp-W7zhhCVfSe6Sji53eku0MNUTaiYgp5Zme2qtTmO3A9jBMfgITCrVcfbKmCPCd9Mqyb/s200/earrings15.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5374680240796658130" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:verdana;">I have had 9 sales in my shop. Every year time flies and when everyone else is on holiday this house is crazy. Truly hoping that this year will be different LOL.<br />More of a variety of things will be available this - buttons, loose beads, charms and miniatures so that more people may find something they would like to have (spend their hard earned cash on.)<br />Well I am planning to do this - we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.......<br /></span></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-5886366408319100752009-08-12T19:46:00.003+02:002009-08-12T20:07:15.004+02:00Mimi 1989 to 9 August 2009<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2YYmIimAUWfuCPzj5lQ28b5BuB4xiKOd6AHsVt-KiZDGG4FiJ4AcdhdSlyJggIHu2bhqe1F4qdg6ZW3RiKWoPMYEkFTkVz6tnIkOuwapYYsFa8DXT-pZ0hMysC57w4EEoIXAmmsFKcP6C/s1600-h/l_40f830b940174bff984336628b42213d.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 160px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2YYmIimAUWfuCPzj5lQ28b5BuB4xiKOd6AHsVt-KiZDGG4FiJ4AcdhdSlyJggIHu2bhqe1F4qdg6ZW3RiKWoPMYEkFTkVz6tnIkOuwapYYsFa8DXT-pZ0hMysC57w4EEoIXAmmsFKcP6C/s200/l_40f830b940174bff984336628b42213d.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369140138376105362" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mimisbeadsstudio/3814163105/" title="photo sharing"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3494/3814163105_d77edf4364_m.jpg" alt="" style="border: 2px solid rgb(0, 0, 0);" /></a><br /><span style="margin-top: 0px;font-size:0;" ><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mimisbeadsstudio/3814163105/">So gorgeous</a><br />Originally uploaded by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/mimisbeadsstudio/">Mimi's Bead Studio</a></span></div><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >It was the beginning of summer in 1998 when 4 cats arrived at my house. 3 of them were only boarding with me for a few weeks and the 4th one had just come to live in her forever home. </span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >That was when I first met Mimi - a little girl that would climb into my heart. Those first few weeks were a bit trying because Mimi had to share a strange house with Meow meow - a very old black cat who was the boss of all, Whiskey - a sweet Siamese who ignored Mimi and Fluffy - a very small cat with a short tail and her and Mimi did not like each other at all - phew it was tough at times.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >The 3 cats went to their home when it was ready and Mimi changed into the most adorable and friendly girl. She was independent yet loving at the same time. She had a new enemy to fight with - a very sweet little Siamese who belonged to a neighbor. We moved into a new house and Mimi became an indoor cat. She loved going for a drive in the car and would happily sit on the seat next to me - never trying to get on my lap - as if she knew that was not a good thing.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >As she got older she became more and more attached to me. She did not like to be away from me for too long.</span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >She got arthritis and then later on she started losing her sight too but all the while she was the same adorable and loving cat. </span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >My heart is broken after losing her but I remember all the joy and laughter that she brought and all the unconditional love that she gave. I will always remember her with a smile and a heart filled with love.</span> <span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-family: verdana;">A friend from Myspace made the angel picture for Mimi - Thanks Catladyinflorida!!</span></span><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;font-family:verdana;" >Rest in peace my darling Mimi. </span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-35165395828344324132009-08-08T17:31:00.004+02:002009-08-12T07:58:44.665+02:00Time for something different<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMguhvz6fKV13dOcNP3ZuTB_GNf0A5bN6banZnoq8dgCamzVYbB4euvLdn1lnWlerAGHeaessgLK6ccGV1MFt8-oyh-2-Y7IV6HDfdwyu_uIEy7S7whS82EXWcmPdU15A4y-T41OsBlq9/s1600-h/Picture+020c.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 120px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilMguhvz6fKV13dOcNP3ZuTB_GNf0A5bN6banZnoq8dgCamzVYbB4euvLdn1lnWlerAGHeaessgLK6ccGV1MFt8-oyh-2-Y7IV6HDfdwyu_uIEy7S7whS82EXWcmPdU15A4y-T41OsBlq9/s200/Picture+020c.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367616874741007218" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb0gTTk1YhSvWQYaT1rOGAW3QQpAOpEKNOvASc-lVlu3aj1Hh1g0yZHimflFSuAZtuLVafHyiJL2W_zonvfBduZ7gNLsJrBRZe1-MpLjs_EL2Z_U1CDX59PWsZokKGtH-yLmYbWYYU8wYv/s1600-h/combc.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 120px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjb0gTTk1YhSvWQYaT1rOGAW3QQpAOpEKNOvASc-lVlu3aj1Hh1g0yZHimflFSuAZtuLVafHyiJL2W_zonvfBduZ7gNLsJrBRZe1-MpLjs_EL2Z_U1CDX59PWsZokKGtH-yLmYbWYYU8wYv/s200/combc.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367616716693062514" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">I was in the mood for doing something different today. I have free reign over the colours too which is rather nice. I love any excuse to get the clay out and make beads and charms. The only problem then is that I have a difficult time packing it all away again so that I can make jewellery with other beads. We have a craft market coming up this weekend so I will have to make a few more items before friday. Winter is so quiet at the markets that it is hardly worth all the effort of loading the car and leaving early in the freezing cold morning air - I am not looking forward to it - can you tell?<br /></span></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-30609812643188261582009-07-24T20:49:00.001+02:002009-08-12T07:59:11.671+02:00I wanted to use shells and pearls<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJzNPLdgQi65RVqJelC40aiD46DDK4-A1OBahgDQqB31k02GlDWbj-Zf4yhEspQqbv1HCPUL-nIKi0LwxvStSAnqQGcrWtUrCRcP4v44hayXP8XTg_iKMt2AfBfGs__5gPPRirTEBi0nl7/s1600-h/Picture+239.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 198px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJzNPLdgQi65RVqJelC40aiD46DDK4-A1OBahgDQqB31k02GlDWbj-Zf4yhEspQqbv1HCPUL-nIKi0LwxvStSAnqQGcrWtUrCRcP4v44hayXP8XTg_iKMt2AfBfGs__5gPPRirTEBi0nl7/s200/Picture+239.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364342012810818498" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eNYFWHjDMuVbXJQ1CtjOyLO16_BvvjN7r44Kpa0OvV_wYxfCzOiv5PJR9QSBwgpmWQoghQp3vHyoODMlZALDYO4HXgY-YGlUxJmWKeTvLznr9RcZFc2FRdBgiPc36YoqJRZueRFBj9He/s1600-h/Picture+203c.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 200px; height: 142px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9eNYFWHjDMuVbXJQ1CtjOyLO16_BvvjN7r44Kpa0OvV_wYxfCzOiv5PJR9QSBwgpmWQoghQp3vHyoODMlZALDYO4HXgY-YGlUxJmWKeTvLznr9RcZFc2FRdBgiPc36YoqJRZueRFBj9He/s200/Picture+203c.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5362103723875502178" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-family:verdana;">Today I decided that I wanted to make something with shells and pearls in shades of brown. There is nothing quite as elegant and beautiful as crystals and pearls from Swarovski .<br /><br />It is such a pity that I have to part with my creations but I could never wear everything anyway and it gives me such a great feeling when someone else is willing to part with their hard earned money to buy something that I have made.<br /></span></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-47835486481108430712009-07-20T20:05:00.000+02:002009-07-20T20:12:42.318+02:00Where did the day go?<span style="font-weight: bold;">This morning when I woke up I had planned to make a really beautiful necklace full of crystals and bling. Now it is 8 pm and no necklace! I rushed off to post a parcel - took Mimi to the vet - went to the bank - had lunch - went to the shop - got stuff sorted out online and then it was dark already. Phew - exhausting....lol.<br />Mimi got a catnip toy and it really brought the kitten out in the old lady - she was rolling around on the floor and drooling - it was so cute. Well maybe after a good nights sleep I will get the necklace made tomorrow.....mmm - we will see.<br /></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-8886338888005201042009-07-15T20:10:00.000+02:002009-07-18T06:13:55.637+02:00My Etsy Shop<span style="font-weight: bold;">I have been so busy getting the shop ready. It has been so exciting and a bit scary at the same time. I am sure that it will get easier as I go along.</span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117632049300669927.post-2299437913688547702009-07-13T18:42:00.000+02:002009-07-13T18:53:21.603+02:00How it all started<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLfepAErO8cQAVwk9jBzw-3SObGxYfdzzonwj3bwjBdNxNV2tfb9_ATr1ELwx9g55u3pCOlYx5u3ggAoPRCVFY7y9uTAuV289nCO_oND_vzZ0KZIuvcPI6YCy7GmxUb66itlr-4blPAXME/s1600-h/SP_A1354.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLfepAErO8cQAVwk9jBzw-3SObGxYfdzzonwj3bwjBdNxNV2tfb9_ATr1ELwx9g55u3pCOlYx5u3ggAoPRCVFY7y9uTAuV289nCO_oND_vzZ0KZIuvcPI6YCy7GmxUb66itlr-4blPAXME/s320/SP_A1354.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357988565878986578" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSiqu7fi9pwoXQjR2SnzI1g0Hiskfb8tTML-M1eiMtCseQASt3N4O4hmed7xMmU6JIorVLocmA_KB-5eCg9LCOSwg-oSGma1nEuglpRcx8TtjKqzB29X6cEmV9IfHuWq9NhoGolQD6cNUK/s1600-h/PIC-0261.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSiqu7fi9pwoXQjR2SnzI1g0Hiskfb8tTML-M1eiMtCseQASt3N4O4hmed7xMmU6JIorVLocmA_KB-5eCg9LCOSwg-oSGma1nEuglpRcx8TtjKqzB29X6cEmV9IfHuWq9NhoGolQD6cNUK/s320/PIC-0261.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357988560094922994" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-size:100%;"><span style="font-family:courier new;">It all started out very innocently. A friend, who I had not seen for many years came to visit and she brought a gift for me. It was a keyring that she had made herself and it had the most beautiful focal bead that I had ever seen. Well that was the beginning of the bead obsession. I went off to the bead shops and saw what I had been missing and as is usual with me - I did not want one I wanted many!!!<br />I started selling the necklaces simply so that I could make more!<br />Last year I discovered Polymer clay and a new monster was unleashed. I love working with the clay. Naturally when I look back at the beads that I made in the beginning I can not believe that I was so pleased with them - now they are so ugly. Oh well - more fun to be had... so off I go.<br /></span></span></span>Mimi's bead studiohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08032890069362607341noreply@blogger.com1
